Acting Chancellor of UCLA

June 15, 2006

UCLA Campus Community

University of California President Robert C. Dynes announced today the appointment of Professor Norman Abrams as Acting Chancellor of UCLA, effective July 1, 2006. The announcement can be viewed at www.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/2006/jun15.html.

Norm Abrams has been a member of the faculty of the UCLA School of Law since 1959. An outstanding scholar and teacher, he has also served the university in several administrative capacities, including Vice Chancellor of Academic Personnel and Interim Dean of the School of Law. He is highly regarded for his integrity, wisdom, fairness, and commitment to excellence. These traits, along with his extensive experience, make him extraordinarily well qualified to lead UCLA.

I know that you will join me in welcoming Norm Abrams to the chancellorship, and that you will support his efforts, as you have supported mine, to ensure the continuing success of UCLA.

With deep appreciation and best wishes,

Sincerely,

Albert Carnesale
Chancellor
