Dear Colleagues:
With the upcoming departure of Vice Chancellor Michael Eicher for The Johns Hopkins University, I am pleased to announce that Rhea Turteltaub has agreed to serve as Interim Vice Chancellor of External Affairs, subject to approval by the UC President and The Regents.
Rhea is an experienced and highly valued member of the External Affairs management team. Over the past nine years, she has served as Assistant Vice Chancellor and more recently as Associate Vice Chancellor for Development. Her service to UCLA Development began in 1994 when she joined the Office of Planned and Major Gifts. She is a highly regarded fund raiser, as well as a strong and collaborative manager who played a key role in the recently completed Campaign UCLA that raised a record $3.053 billion for UCLA.
In addition to her work here, Rhea has helped to advance a number of top-tier institutions, including UC Berkeley and the University of Chicago, as well as her alma mater, Trinity College.
Rhea will oversee all operations in External Affairs: Development, Alumni Relations, University Communications, Government & Community Relations, Advancement Services, Finance & Information Management and The UCLA Foundation. I ask that you give her your full support as she leads our advancement organization through this transition.
Executive Vice Chancellor Daniel Neuman and I want to express our appreciation to Rhea for her willingness to assume these interim duties. The work of External Affairs is critical to UCLA's long-term competitiveness, and we are fortunate to have a world-class team engaged in these activities on our behalf.
Sincerely,
Albert Carnesale
Chancellor
