I write to provide the names of candidates for Dean of the UCLA School of Public Affairs, who have been invited by Chancellor Block and Executive Vice Chancellor Waugh for campus visits on the dates noted below.

Steven S. Smith
Director, Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public Policy; Kate M. Gregg Professor of Social Sciences and Professor of Political Science, Washington University in St. Louis
UCLA Visit:  April 28-29, 2008

Martin Wachs
Director of the Transportation, Space, and Technology Program and Director of the Supply Chain Policy Center, RAND Corporation
UCLA Visit:  April 22-23, 2008

Per common practice, each candidate has been asked to give a presentation to faculty, students, staff and community members, which will be followed by a reception during which attendees can meet informally with the candidate.  The candidate will also meet with members of the School of Public Affairs and campus administration.

Please feel free to distribute this information to SPA faculty, students, staff and community members, all of whom are very welcome to attend the research presentations and receptions.  We will finalize and forward the details of the presentations as soon as possible.
